A Statement Regarding Fiqh Of Du’aa (P/B)
RM43.50
He who reviews the Qur’aan will find that the Book of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, is replete with many verses and a number of texts indicating the virtue of Du’aa and the loftiness of its status. When you read the Qur’aan, you will find that the first Soorah with which the book of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, begins with it; Soorah Al-Faatihah contains this tremendous act of worship, and the last of the Qur’aan Soorah An-Naas as well, contains this tremendous act of worship.
So the Book of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, begins with Du’aa and ends with it. The Du’aa, which is within Al-Faatihah, is the greatest of supplications hands down. (It contains) asking Allaah, the Blessed and High, for guidance to the straight path and that the servant avoids the paths of those who are astray and those upon whom is the Anger of Allaah. The last of the Book of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, contains the Du’aa of seeking refuge with Him, Glorified and Exalted be He, from the evil of the one who whispers and withdraws; the one who whispers into the hearts of mankind; from the Jinn as well as men, in order to make them deviate from the straight path of Allaah and the upright way.
Allaah informs us that Shaytaan says:
Then I will come to them from before them, and behind them, from their right and their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e., they will not be dutiful to You).[1]
So there is no firmness upon the straight path of Allaah, nor safety from the accursed Shaytaan-who calls mankind to deviation from the straight path-except by way of Du’aa and seeking refuge with Allaah, the Majestic and High; and a good manner of taking refuge with Him. This beginning and ending contain an indication of the importance of Du’aa from different perspectives; and the need of mankind for Du’aa to be firm upon the straight path of Allaah. When you reflect upon the other verses of the Qur’aan, you find the great status of Du’aa and lofty station of it within the Qur’aan.

Allah, the Most High, Says: “Remember Me, and I shall remember you” Qur’an 2:152 Abu Hurayrah (radiy Allahu ‘anhu), said that the Prophet (if) said: ‘Allah the Almighty said:’ “I am as My servant thinks of Me. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a cubit, and if he draws near to Me a cubit, I draw near to him a fathom, if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed. The Journey to Allah (P/B)
Bukhari records on the authority of abu Hurayrah (raiyAllahu ?anhu) that the Prophet said, ?Your actions alone will not save any of you.? They asked, ?Messenger of Allah, not even you?? He replied, ?not even me, unless Allah were to envelop me in His mercy.
Be firm; steadfast and balanced; and journey [to Allah] in the beginning of the day, the end of the day, and a portion of the latter part of the night. Moderation, moderation! Through this you will attain your goal!?
He also recorded this hadith in another place with the wording, ?This religion is easy, none makes it hard upon himself except that it overwhelms him; therefore be firm, steadfast, and balanced; upon which have glad tidings! Seek help in this by journeying [to Allah] at the beginning of the day, at the end of the day, and a portion of the latter part of the night.?
He also records on the authority of ?A?ishah (raiyAllahu ?anhu) that the Prophet said, ?be firm, steadfast, and balanced upon which have glad tidings for indeed actions alone will not cause one to enter Paradise.? They asked, ?Messenger of allah, not even you?? He replied, ?not even me, unless Allah were to envelop me in His forgiveness and mercy.?
He also records on her authority that the Prophet said, ?be firm, steadfast, and balanced: know that your actions alone will not be a cause for your entry into Paradise and that the most beloved actions to allah are those that are done continuously and persistently, even if they be few.?
These noble ahadith detail a great and important principle from which stem many issues related to the journey to Allah while wayfaring along His Path.
Some of the Salaf said, ?The Hereafter consists either of allah?s forgiveness or the Fire; and this world is either a source of allah?s protection or a source of destruction.? On his deathbed, Muhammad ibn Wasi bid farewell to his companions saying, ?Peace be upon you, either to the Fire or to the forgiveness of allah.?
Read, Then Write Your Will
This book deals with the importance of having an Islamic will. Author Hisham Ibn Fahmi Ibn Moussa Al-Aref explains what a will is and how important it is in Islam.
Islam highly encourages, if not obligates, writing a will as soon as possible, since one does not know when Allah will take the Muslim’s soul back to Him. Many man-made laws also recognize the importance of a will and the difficulties that the absence of one can cause. The will can include both financial and religious matters and can be a document for reference and application without disputes.
Scholars of Hadith (P/B)
This book presents an extensive, in-depth analysis of great Muhaddithun (scholars of the science of Hadith). Each chapter presents detailed biographies of Malik b. Anas, Ibn Hanbal, al-Bukhari, Muslim, al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, an-Nasai, Ibn Majah, ad-Darimi and al-Bayhaqi along with the methods they used in Hadith collection and classification. This work is especially important in today’s world where many Muslims have a dire need to connect with the great corpus of work that was produced by the scholars or traditional Islam. A work such as Scholars of Hadith has been long overdue in the English language and it will certainly make for productive reading for all interested in deepening their knowledge of Islam.
Commanders of the Muslim Army (H/B)
This book is about the lives of those Noble Companions and Commanders who led the Islamic forces in the violent and strife-torn arenas of conflict against the kuffar. They struck terror in the hearts of the enemy, and the strong forts and palaces of Caesar and Chosroes trembled before their might. In this compilation there are not only stories of the battlefields but also the stories of bravery and courage, valour and piety, austerity and simplicity.
